Community Award at the Examiner Business Awards 2022
We are very proud at everyone at CHS who helped in us winning the Community Award category at the Examiner Business Awards.
The category was all about showcasing companies with a conscience and a commitment to social responsibility, who really make an impact on their communities.
Managing Director, Stuart Sugarman, said: “I am so proud of everyone at CHS. They are truly part of this country’s unsung heroes, and I am so pleased that their hard work and dedication has been officially recognised by winning the Examiner business award for Community.
“It was such a great night at the award ceremony seeing the team looking so fantastic and collecting the award. I just wish all our colleagues could have been there!
“The award is dedicated to all of our CHS colleagues who keep the hospital working around the clock, delivering compassionate care to our patients, visitors and each other.”
We are delighted to share that Andrew ‘John James’ was a finalist in the Putting People First category at this year’s CHuFT Awards.
This award recognises individuals who go above and beyond to provide exceptional care and support, always putting the needs of patients, colleagues, and the community first. Andrew’s nomination reflects his dedication, compassion, and the positive impact he makes every day.
Being chosen as a finalist from so many outstanding nominations is a fantastic achievement, and we are proud to see Andrew’s hard work recognised at such a prestigious event.

CHuFT Awards Recognition 2026
Sharon Rogers Nominated for CHuFT Award
Congratulations to Southside Dining Supervisor Sharon Rogers, who was nominated in the Excellence in Support Services category at the 2026 CHuFT Awards.
Recognised for her dedication, professionalism, and compassionate approach, Sharon plays a vital role in creating a clean, safe, and welcoming dining environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Her nomination also highlighted her resilience during a challenging year, as well as her commitment to mentoring Project SEARCH students, several of whom have gone on to secure paid employment.
Speaking about the awards evening, Sharon said: “I had an amazing time at the award night from start to finish. It was such a pleasure to have been nominated for a job I love doing.”
Sharon's nomination is a testament to the positive impact she has on colleagues, students, and everyone who uses the Southside Dining Room.
Carissa Rhodes Nominated for CHuFT Award
Congratulations to Carissa Rhodes, Domestic Assistant, who was recognised as a finalist at the 2026 CHuFT Awards.
Carissa was shortlisted in recognition of her dedication to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues. Her commitment to high standards and the positive contribution she makes every day were acknowledged through her nomination.
Speaking about being named a finalist, Carissa said she was surprised and honoured to receive the recognition, adding that it made her feel valued and proud to be part of the NHS team.
Although she did not take home the award, reaching the finals is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the important role she plays in supporting patients and colleagues across the Trust.
Green Hero Award
Congratulations to Neve Mellor, Procurement Assistant, who was named CHFT's Green Hero Award winner during Green Week.
Nominated by colleague Poppy Bray, Neve was recognised for her outstanding commitment to sustainability and for going above and beyond in her role to support the Trust's environmental goals. As a member of the Green Planning Committee, she has played an important role in supporting sustainable procurement, helping to assess supplier progress against national sustainability standards and championing social value across the Trust.
Reflecting on her award, Neve said: “I’m so grateful to receive the Green Hero Award. I’ve really enjoyed supporting and working with so many people who are passionate about going green. Being part of the Green Committee has been so rewarding, especially seeing the positive changes the Trust is actively making.”
Neve's achievement highlights her dedication to making CHFT a greener, more sustainable organisation and inspiring others to make a positive environmental impact.

Yorkshire Top 500
We are proud to announce that Calderdale and Huddersfield Solutions has been placed 318th in the Yorkshire Top 500 businesses for 2025 – a significant rise from last year’s position.
This achievement is a fantastic reflection of the hard work, dedication and commitment of our colleagues, who continue to deliver outstanding support to Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

CHS (Calderdale & Huddersfield Solutions Ltd) has impressively maintained a place among the Kirklees Top 100 Companies for four years consecutive years:
- In 2021/22 CHS entered the listing at 25th place
- by 2022/23, the achievement continued - although exact ranking wasn't specified in available sources, CHS confirmed ongoing recognition
- In 2023/24, the company was again featured in the Top 100 roster
- In the 2024/25 CHS secured 42nd place

Refurbishment Project of the Year
We’re delighted to announce that our CHS Estates Team has been shortlisted for the Refurbishment Project of the Year at the prestigious Healthcare Estates IHEEM Awards.
The nomination celebrates the transformation of The Rainbow Community Hub, a vibrant, inclusive space created to support patients, families, and staff across the Trust.
This recognition reflects the team’s exceptional work in delivering a high-quality, people-focused refurbishment that goes far beyond bricks and mortar. The Rainbow Hub has quickly become a valued part of our hospital community, and this shortlisting is a fantastic acknowledgment of the hard work, care, and creativity that went into bringing it to life.

We’re proud to share that our CHS Procurement Team were nominated and shortlisted for the Unsung Hero Award 2024.
The nomination recognises the team's behind-the-scenes dedication to driving improvements in procurement processes, supporting Scan4Safety initiatives, and delivering outstanding service across Calderdale and Huddersfield Solutions and Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust.

BICSc Accredited Training Member
Calderdale and Huddersfield Solutions is proud to be an accredited training member of BICSc (The British Institute of Cleaning Science).
ISSA CIMS Certified with Honours
In June 2025 CHS Domestic Services department was re-accredited the Cleaning Industry Management Standard (CIMS), with HONOURS.
The management team has worked extremely hard to demonstrate that the service is structured to deliver a consistent, quality service and are committed to provide efficient operations and continuous improvement.
By implementing core CIMS principles into the service's management framework, both Calderdale and Huddersfield CHFT and CHS will benefit from improved productivity, increased customer satisfaction and enhanced professionalism.
